Holy Week

PALM SUNDAY – March 25 – 11:00 a.m.  We’ll celebrate this traditional day of worship that marks the triumphant arrival of Jesus in the city of Jerusalem, where great crowds threw down their clothes and tree branches on his path as he approached on his humble donkey. (Palm trees grew there so that’s why it’s “Palm Sunday” and why we wave palm fronds. We’ll have fresh fronds for you this day.

MAUNDY THURSDAY – March 29 – 6:30 to 8:30  Join Pastor David Gatton to celebrate this ancient Christian celebration that commemorates the Last Super. This will be a POTLUCK event.  In John 13:1-20 there is a description of Jesus approaching his disciples to wash their feet before their meal this night, which Jesus knows will be their last. As he does this meager chore usually performed by servants, he proscribes the Golden Rule to his followers. “So you should serve each other just as I served you. Believe me, servants are not greater than their master,” he says to his disciples as he finishes the task.

GOOD FRIDAY SERVICE – March 30 – NOON - in the Sanctuary  Good Friday, also known as “Holy Friday,” is the Friday immediately preceding Easter Sunday. It is observed traditionally as the day on which Jesus was crucified. Solemn hymns, prayers of thanksgiving, and an invitation to reflect on suffering of many kinds, mark this service on the Friday before Easter.

EASTER SUNDAY – April 1 – 11:00 a.m. -  Pastor David Gatton delivers the sermon on this day.
